Browniecat

Made of: A chocolate brownie. The bakery's night owl.

Browniecat is a cartoon cat made out of a chocolate brownie: a rich, dark, crumbly bake studded with even darker chocolate chunks, with rosy cheeks that glow against all that chocolate and a dark brown striped tail. Browniecat is the only dark-bodied cat in the original bakery, and wears it beautifully.

Deep, rich and secretly a big softie in the middle, Browniecat is the bakery's night owl. While everyone else is tucked up, Browniecat is wide awake, reading by lamplight, listening to the ovens tick as they cool and making sure the last tray is wrapped up properly. A little bit mysterious, fudgy at heart, and impossible not to share.

Favourite spot: the squashy armchair in the back room, under a knitted blanket, beside a reading lamp and a mug of hot chocolate.

Quirks: talks in a low, cosy murmur after dark, keeps a list of the best rainy-day books, and gets very excited when the clocks go back (an extra hour of evening!). If your idea of a perfect night is a blanket, a book and something chocolatey, you and Browniecat will get on famously.
